If you are a lover of Minecraft, you might share with your family members about how much time you spend playing games.
Keeping track of your time playing Minecraft can help you prove something. Unless it’s spent more hours playing than being accused, that is!
Whatever it is, whether you are trying to convince your partner that you don’t play more than do chores, or you just want to track your Minecraft history, there are ways to find out how many hours you’ve spent mining and crafting.
This article will give you all the information you need.
The Statistics tab in Minecraft not only tracks how many hours you have spent building your virtual world, but you can also see how many times you have done each game activity. Like how many times you open a chest or talk to villagers, how far do you walk or swim, etc.
Note: Only Java edition of Minecraft for PC or Mac allows you to view statistics in this way.
Every time you save the world, the world statistics are automatically saved.
How to Open the Statistics Tab
You can enter statistics by following these simple steps:
- Press the Escape key on your keyboard.
- The Game menu will open and you will see various options on the screen.
- Click Statistics, right next to Achievements, under the ‘Return to Game’ button.
- A list will appear on your screen. These are divided into four categories: General, Block, Item, and Mobs.
- By opening a list, you open general statistics.
- If you want to see other categories, click on it.
The first category is called General. It contains information about how many times you have completed various activities, or what distance you have traveled, traveled by boat, etc.
The second category, called Blocks, shows the number of times you create, use, or mine blocks.
The ‘Item’ category is the third. This shows how many times you have run out, made, taken, dropped, or used different items, such as an iron shovel, pickaxe, bow, sword, etc.
The fourth and final category is called Mobs. It shows how many times you killed spiders, skeletons, zombies, creepers, etc.
To see how many hours you play Minecraft, open ‘Statistics’ and stay in the General category.
The second item on the list is Minutes played, but the amount of time played can also be expressed in days (d) or hours (h). If you want to see all items from the list, everything you need to scroll down.
Note that statistics only show the time you spend in the world today. If you want to know how much total time you spent building all the world saved, you can calculate it by adding each individual time period.
Everything You Can See in Statistics
Statistics are generally interesting and almost every gamer likes to know the answers to the questions “how much” and “how much”.
What the ‘Statistics’ tab can show is:
- The number of times you click Save and exit to the title.
- How long has it been since you were edited in the game.
- How often have you used the Sneak button.
- Total sprinting, falling, or squatting distances.
- How many times have you jumped.
- How many times you edited.
- How many times you have blocked damage with a shield.
The list goes on and on, but you get the point – all of this data is stored in your Statistics, so you can easily compare your success with other players.
How to Reset Your Statistics
There is a simple way to reset your statistics if you want to start from scratch.
- Open the .minecraft folder from your computer.
- Find the folder with the same name as the world you want to delete statistics on.
- Open the Statistics folder of that world folder.
- Delete folder contents.
Congratulations, your statistics are now reset!

Can I see how many hours I have played Minecraft for PlayStation?
Unfortunately, Sony doesn’t make this easy for PlayStation fans. We have articles that explain more.
Why does the application tell me the number of hours that is different from the Java version?
The hours you play depends on how many accounts you have created. For example, if you play in an application on your mobile, the Java version will not record it.
Don’t be surprised
Checking your total Minecraft time is very easy, and you get interesting insights about the rest of your statistics. However, you might want to check the playing hours when you are alone, just in case the number is higher than expected. Resetting the statistics can save you – so your family will never learn the truth!
